EMS helicopters developed and produced by the enterprises of Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) evacuated more than 400 patients to Kirov hospitals. Moreover, ANSAT, delivered within the framework of the federal program aimed at developing air medical services, has already flown more than 300 hours - more than it was planned.

Active development of the air medical service in the region began in July 2017. Currently, ANSAT with a medical module, as well as Mi-2 helicopter are operated in the region. The rotorcraft added to the fleet of Vyatkaavia. The helicopters are used for prompt airlift of patients from remote areas of the Kirov region to the medical centers fitted with state-of-the-art high-tech equipment, as well as evacuation of road accident casualties and emergency casualties.

Starting from July the helicopters have performed 378 flights. In all cases air medical service was used for transporting patients in critical condition, for example, with cardiovascular diseases. More than 90 emergency heart surgeries were performed in the hospital of the Kirov region. Evacuation was performed also from the regions with no road connection.

“The Kirov region is a clear example of the real need of the regions for medical helicopters. Availability of the helicopters that can not only transport a patient to a medical center, but also sustain its life on the way, is required on a much greater scale than was anticipated. The Holding Company will continue to provide Russian regions with state-of-the-art medical helicopters, the main goal of which is saving human lives,” stated Andrey Boginskiy, Director General of Russian Helicopters Holding Company.

“The air medical program was launched in 2017 and by now 29 helicopters have been produced. Production of 31 rotorcraft is planned for the next year. In the Kirov region alone, helicopters have already performed nearly 400 flights and, as a result, 414 people, including 66 children, have been evacuated,” noted Denis Manturov, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation.

Moreover, the air medical service development program also entails the construction and reconstruction of helicopter pads in the Kirov region, where medical rotorcraft can land.  Today another helicopter pad has been opened near Kirov emergency medical station. In addition, in 2017 helicopter pads were opened in the territory of the Kirov regional hospital and the Center for traumatology, orthopaedics and neurosurgery. Also in 2017 landing helicopter pads were set up near medical organizations in all the districts of the Kirov region.
