12.07.2013 / The Voice of Russia

The Bolivian government is considering the possibility of purchasing two Russian Mi-17 helicopters to be used by special units in the fight against drugs and to provide aid during disasters.

Russian delegation will visit Bolivia to hold talks within a month, the Spanish language defense portal Infodefensa said citing a statement of Bolivian Defense Minister Ruben Saavedra Soto Aldo.

The portal said that such an agreement was reached during the visit of Bolivian President Evo Morales to Moscow last week.

The Russian delegation will discuss certain issues and technical aspects of supplying these helicopters, the portal said citing a statement of the Bolivian Defense Ministry.

Bolivia lacks the proper resources to fight drug trafficking after cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) stopped, Infodefensa reported citing the Bolivian Defense Ministry.
