Russian Helicopters made the top 10 list of the world's largest arms exporters

24.03.2014 / Interfax-AVN
According to the annual analysis of defense trade, IHS “Balance of Trade 2014”, Russian Helicopters made the top 10 world's arms exporters, leaping from the 16th to 10th largest global exporter.

The authors of the analysis believe that the strengthening of the positions of Russian Helicopters is due to a considerable increase in exports of military and transport helicopters of Mi-8/17 series – from USD 0.3 billion in 2009 to USD 1.7 billion in 2013.

It was earlier reported that the position of Russian Helicopters was significantly improved in the global rating of largest arms producers with regard to the volume of military trade, based on the results of 2012 received by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The results boosted the company’s rating from the 35th to 25th place as compared to 2011.

According to the 2013 results, the company delivered 275 helicopters to its customers; the revenue increased by 10% as compared to 2012 and amounted to RUB 138.3 billion. As at the beginning of 2014, the company’s business portfolio consists of 808 helicopters totaling RUB 401.2 billion.
