Russia sells 12 helicopters to Nigeria

19.09.2014 / RIA Novosti

Russia is going to supply six Mi-8/17 helicopters and six Mi-35M helicopters, Sergey Goreslavsky, Deputy Director General of "Rosoboronexport", said to reporters on Friday.

It was previously reported that the contract was signed, but no clarity was given with regard to the number of helicopters to be supplied.

"In August we signed a large contract with Nigeria for the delivery of Mi-35 helicopters and Mi-17 helicopters. The contract is rather extensive: it provides for 12 aircraft, i.e. 6 helicopters of each configuration", said Mr. Goreslavsky at the Africa Aerospace & Defence 2014.

Regarding the delivery time frame, he said that the first consignment may be delivered within one year.

"Depending on the terms and conditions of the contract, the first helicopter is normally supplied in one year. In 12 months, in general, first consignments are supplied to customers", explained Mr. Goreslavsky.
